The Babylonstoren Estate has one of South Africa’s finest gardens. It has a top class hotel, fine restaurants, livestock and at the higher atitudes, vineyards.
There is the expected apricot fruit but this has a rapier acidity typical of the area, giving it an almost sherbert-y character. Deliciously refreshing.
We are not great fans of South African wines in general but make an exception for this! If you are going to drink something from the new world you want if to be distinctive rather than just a poor copy of it’s old world model. This delivers.
