The Raasay distillery on the tiny Hebridean island of the same name is quite a long way off having whisky ready to release, but the folks behind it are more than eager to show off their prowess whilst waiting for their new spirit to mature (hence the name…)
They’ve blended two expressions from an undisclosed Highland distillery; one peated, one unpeated. The whisky then is then aged French oak Tuscan wine casks from three vineyards that produce Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
The result? Single malt whisky of uncommon provenance.
