The sunny, dry, Mediterranean climate of Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence. ensures ripe, fruit-driven wines that nevertheless retain great freshness thanks to cooling sea breezes.
2018 was pretty near perfect. Hot weather giving great ripeness, quality and quantity. So the price will be coming down then? Non!
This large format bottle is rather spectacular to look at too.
Fun fact – The grapes for this Grenache -based wine were pressed and fermented in the same way as a white wine (rather than using the ‘saignée’ method of drawing off part of a red wine early in the fermentation).
This minimises the extraction of harsh phenolics, and has led to a more delicate style of rosé with a fine textured finish. You learn a new word every day, eh!
