This is a sublime Monbazillac with a wonderful barley sugar bouquet and complex dried fruit palate offset by a fine acidity. On the nose, complex notes of dried fruits, nuts and caramel abound, with a heady orange blossom bouquet.
The addition of 10% Muscadelle makes this a lighter, slightly more refreshing option than its neighbour Sauternes.
Similarly, Monbazillac is traditionally served chilled before a main meal, often as an accompaniment to foie gras. However, it makes an equally delicious partner to fruity desserts or cheese, particularly blue cheese.
