Pagos de Matanegra Tempranillo Ribera del Duero

£16.00

Categories: , .

Ribera del Duero is one of Spain’s most highly regarded regions for red wine (comparable to Rioja and Priorat), although it’s only become ‘mainstream’ in the last twenty years or so. Vineyards are overwhelmingly planted with Tempranillo, (or ‘Tinto de Pais’ as it’s known locally) and are generally at very high altitudes – Pagos de Mantenegra’s are close to 950m above sea level.

Made using biodynamic principles and pruned in accordance with lunar cycles, this is their least aged offering, although vines are still at least 40 years old with grapes spending 8 months in French oak.

On the nose, expect a combination of ripe black fruits and notes of plum jam, and taste-wise it’s all about those soft red and black fruits again, supported by silky tannins and bright acidity.
