Bernard Fouquet is one of Vouray’s stars. He owns 26 hectares of Chenin Blanc vineyards planted on the best soils of the region (clay/limestone) – This is from Le Clos de l’Auberdière.
He works with a lutte raisonnée philosophy, often thought of as ‘the thinking man’s answer to organic‘, using treatments selectively and only when necessary.
Bernard’s wonderful flinty soils really shine through – his Cuvée de Silex exhibits a super mineral character as well as the luscious honeyed fruit taste that is characteristic of Chenin Blanc.
Robert Parker is a fan too, he describes this wine as ‘outstanding.’
